WILLIAMSVILLE, NY (WIVB) – Tops Markets employees are required to re-mask themselves while working, regardless of their immunization status, with the rule coming back into effect Friday.
The grocer says the decision to again require their employees to wear face coverings was made after monitoring the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, state and local guidelines. They say the health and safety of their associates and clients is at the center of their decision making.
Fully immunized customers who buy from Tops still have the option of not wearing a mask. Unvaccinated people must wear a mask.
The health and safety of our employees, as well as that of our customers, is at the heart of every decision. Throughout the pandemic, we have closely followed local, state, and CDC guidelines. The CDC again recommends wearing face coverings in public places, including grocery stores, to help curb the spread of the virus. As of this Friday, August 6, all associates, regardless of their vaccination status, will be required to wear face covers when working in our stores. For now, our current policy for customers will remain unchanged. Fully immunized clients will have the option of wearing a face covering. Unvaccinated customers should wear a face cover when shopping in our stores. This includes all people two years of age or older who are medically able to tolerate a face covering.
Wegmans updated its masking policy on Tuesday and “strongly” encourages customers to wear masks. Wegmans employees are also required to wear masks.
