For those looking for a job that will allow them to stay at a distance, job search site Flexible jobs Monday published its ninth edition listing of companies that posted the most remote jobs in the past year. After nearly two years of remote work sparked by a pandemic, the list includes a record number of new companies and a wide variety of titles, both signs the shift to hiring for remote jobs is here to stay.
“When you look at 2020 and the first year of the pandemic, the list hasn’t changed much in terms of the types of jobs represented,” says Brie Reynolds, manager of career services for FlexJobs, which scans job boards and the business. sites for remote job listings or those with flexible hours.
In 2021, for example, the top three fields represented in the analysis by FlexJobs, which examines a database of remote jobs posted last year by around 57,000 companies, were for positions in IT fields. and information technology, accounting, finance and marketing. But in 2019, neither marketing, accounting and finance jobs made it into the top five. “What we’re seeing now at the end of 2021 is a broader approach to remote working that employers have taken… [and] broader representation of high-quality professional jobs, not just IT and customer service. It is a change in the mindset of the employer.
Thirty-five of the top 100 companies, including HubSpot, Mayo Clinic and Stitch Fix, were new in 2021, compared to just 29 new companies on the list in 2019, the year before the pandemic. FlexJobs saw a 12% increase in the number of remote job postings in 2021, compared to 2020. And while the majority of remote job postings were for senior and managerial positions, the percentage of remote jobs Remote entry-level jobs were also higher in 2021 than the year before.
Many of the top employers, including No.1 BroadPath, which provides remote outsourcing services, hire large numbers of virtual call center employees, customer service agents, and others to outsourcing positions. But these employers are also hiring for other remote based jobs – the BroadPath website is currently promoting a “work from home” job. sales manager and payroll coordinator, for example, just like a series of other mailing lists, such as Varsity Tutors, Dell Technologies, and CVS Health.
Kate Lister, president of Global Workplace Analytics, a research and consulting firm, says there is so much interest in remote working that employers are increasingly promoting it in their job postings. “It’s in their best interest to shout it out loud from the highest rooftops – it has to be in their recruiting,” she says.
While there continues to be some resistance to remote working from more traditional managers, Lister says, more and more are emerging due to the intensity of labor shortages. It is no longer a question of “if”, but of “how many” or how many days people can work from home. “Every company I work with has had a comprehensive review of their attitude towards remote working,” Lister says.
Only eight companies have made the list each year since its inception: Anthem, CVS Health, Dell Technologies, Kelly, Parexel, SAP, Stride and UnitedHealth Group. The full list of the best FlexJobs companies for remote jobs is below.
