SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Senator Eric Lesser was in Forest Park on Friday to announce funding to support staffing, website development, outreach and education for the Forest Park Farmers Market.
Senator Lesser acted as the main sponsor in the Senate, securing $ 75,000 from the ARPA spending bill enacted this week. The funding will allow the market to continue its mission of addressing food insecurity, and will also provide an opportunity for the community to access fresh and healthy food for the year.
Jodi Manning, director of the Farmers’ Market at Forest Park, told 22News: “There is a wonderful program in Massachusetts that helps people facing food insecurity and at the same time helps the agriculture and farmers market in the country. forest park is a partner in this program. So that makes us an essential resource for people in our community who are currently facing needs. ”
The market takes place on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. but snowy weather can have an impact on these times.
