New President Appointed for BHSH Beaumont Health – Press and Guide


BHSH System welcomes Benjamin Schwartz, MD, as the new president of BHSH Beaumont Health, effective July 5.

“In the search for the new President of BHSH Beaumont Health, we were looking for a leader with the proven ability to drive excellence, a strong team and culture builder, a dynamic communicator, and a strategic and systems thinker. Dr. Schwartz exemplifies these qualities,” said Tina Freese Decker, President and CEO of BHSH System. “He is a visionary healthcare leader, passionate about the future of healthcare. He is also committed to fostering and inspiring a vibrant culture for our team at BHSH Beaumont Health, and leading that team towards our bold vision.

During Schwartz’s 27-year career, he has both provided care and held executive and administrative leadership positions, responsible for hundreds of practices, six acute care hospitals and a behavioral health hospital. He comes to BHSH Beaumont Health from Northwell Health in New York, where he served as Senior Vice President and Executive Physician for the Eastern Region. He is an associate professor at several institutions and serves on the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Dallas.

Schwartz received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Dartmouth College. He received an MD from George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences and earned a Masters in Health Care Management from Harvard University. Additionally, he is board certified in gynecologic oncology as well as obstetrics and gynecology. He is widely published and invited to lecture and present on a variety of clinical topics. Dr. Schwartz has been named New York’s “Top Doctor” in gynecologic oncology for the past six years.
