1. Eliminate snacks

According to Ayurveda, digestion has three basic stages to be completed after a meal. During the first hour after any meal, the Kapha energies become dominant causing the body to feel full and heavy. Then after two hours of eating, the Pita energy dominates the body and increases the hydrochloric acid in the body. Four to five hours after a meal, Vata energy increases, which leads to an increase in appetite. Ayurveda recommends three meals a day with no snacks in between to maintain the digestion process.

2. Eat fresh foods

Fresh foods contain large amounts of water and are better options for hydrating the body. Prana, a life force nourishes the body at a fundamental level and is responsible for generating healthy energy in the body. Eating fresh foods increases prana and promotes a healthy digestive process.

3. Do not consume water while eating

Drinking water in the middle of a meal, unless necessary, should be avoided. Food takes a long time to digest, and drinking water between meals can slow down the digestion process, leading to digestion-related problems in the body. According to Ayurveda, one should drink water 40-45 minutes before a meal and 30 minutes after a meal.

4. Consume food off the ground

According to Ayurveda, sitting on the ground means you are sitting cross-legged, which is similar to doing yoga while eating and has incredible health benefits. In addition, food should not be consumed while standing.

5. Consume the evening meal on time

According to Ayurveda, Kapha energy controls the end of the day. Therefore, one should eat something that balances Kapha at night. Ayurveda suggests that the best time for dinner is between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., with no snacks between meals.
